Hello! I'm Nuno Alves, a loving husband and father of two girls and two dogs.
Surfer since 1982 and Kitesurfer since 2003, local from Costa de Caparica, Portugal. As a rider I love progressive maneuvers and trips with my brothers and friends.
I'm a former surf coach and former IKO kitesurfing instructor.
Photography lovers (friends and family) have surrounded me since I was a teenager. In 1989, I photographed Surf for the first time with my uncle's analog Cannon. Most of the time, I got disappointing results, especially in action photography.
It was only in 1999 that I bought my first NIKON digital set and a tripod and started my surf photography hobby.
I began my professional photography career in 2012. I worked in a studio, taking photos of objects for e-commerce. After five years in a dark studio, I was close to burnout and quit my job. The time has come to take a break and reflect... I took a Surftrip to the Maldives with one of my brothers and three good friends and it was then that I knew for sure that I wanted to continue working with photography but... in a studio lit by the Sun with the wonderful sound of the waves and the fresh energy of the wind... nine months later my water sports photography project I Shoot U Surf Photo was born.
